Can you believe I started this post by writing what’s in my makeup bag and then it snowballed into talking about all beauty and skincare products I am either using or have on my radar? I think I would need to do a separate post on my hair care routine because that is something I do have down to a perfect science. Plus, I have a very dramatic story that goes with my hair that I want to tell you about. Anyways, starting off this post with my morning routine.
In the morning I wake up and hit the shower where I would clean my skin with a basic store-bought exfoliator, nothing too fancy just something that provides a light scrub. Afterwards, I wipe my skin with the Clinique Clarifying Lotion and then apply the matching Moisturizing Cream. I’ve been using these for such a long time but fancy exploring other brands. I then apply makeup to my skin, starting with the MAC Perfecting Stick, then the Face & Body Foundation which provides a light and natural coverage & finish the skin with the peachy Powder Blush also by MAC. I’ll then work on my eyes which is a very quick process, a light coverage of my new Dior Mascara, and sometimes I will do my wings with Rimmel Eyeliner, I think I’ve been using this since high school! Finally, and something I will never leave the house without doing is filling in my brows. I am currently using the Benefit Brow Pencil but wouldn’t mind switching things up, or maybe have my eyebrows microbladed in the summer!
As you can see this is pretty entry level when it comes to skincare and makeup. I would love to go try out the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick and the Onomie Bright Concealing Elixir which is said to brighten under the eyes in one swoop. I definitely need a new bronzer for Spring, something that has a little glitter and shine to help give off the fresh skin look. I’m actually loving my current Mascara, but I also saw the Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara mentioned in How to be Parisian Wherever You Are, and it’s been a wishlist item for too long now! Lastly, I would love to get a good lipstick but something glossy and not too sticky, so I will need to look around. For now, I have been using my goto Lip Conditioner by MAC.
I must admit that I need to get better at my evening beauty routine, so far it’s pretty much nonexistent, I’ll use some face wipes, no particular brand, just whatever happens to be on sale at the time. I realize that an evening routine is as important as the morning, so with that I did some more research and found these products that I would like to start incorporating into a night routine.
La Roche Posay Face Wash
I actually just placed an order for this because it can be bought via Amazon.ca prime so it’s going to be arriving within a few days! Not bad hey! They also have the Cleansing Foam which can also be used in the AM/PM.
Kypris Moonlight Catalyst Serum
This product is specifically designed for the nighttime application. It contains a cocktail of renewing enzymes that work on enhancing cellular renewal, evens skin tone, reduced evidence of blemishes and helps keep pores clear.
Fresh Black Tea Eye Cream
I saw a few people praising this product online so it’s been in the back of my mind for a while. Like the cleanser, this can be applied in the AM/PM and is said to help with dark circles, puffiness, and loss of firmness and elasticity. Sign me up!
Last up is La Mer Creme de la Mer
La Mer is said to be more a heavier cream, but with that, it’s packed full of moisture and skin nourishing qualities! Pretty excited to start trying these at night and see how my skin improves over time.
